Leveled Ground exists to support immigrant high school students in Texas, especially in small towns, as they adapt to a new country—offering mentorship, guidance, and community so they can feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Challenges of an Immigrant Youth

Teenage Struggles

Many immigrant teens are forced to mature quickly and shoulder adult responsibilities due to family and personal challenges.

Bullies

As an immigrant of a different race, you may face bullying in various forms related to your language, ethnicity, culture, or skin color.

Family Economic Issues

Moving to another country can present you and your family with systemic obstacles, job restrictions, reduced incomes, and increased expenses. As a result, the comfort you were accustomed to may be taken away.

Alienation

The process of starting over in a new country is challenging and often isolating. Many immigrants feel like outsiders as they navigate unfamiliar cultures and spaces.

The success of this project depends heavily on the ability to provide meaningful and empathetic mentoring. So, we need mentors who are enthusiastic and intentional in making a difference.

What we ask from our volunteers

Conduct pre-screening interviews for mentors and mentees

Participate in group sessions with fellow volunteers
Help organize and communicate knowledge sharing sessions
Work on newsletters in the future
Help with administrative tasks
